Tire Armor that is something I had not thought of. Now that you have said this It reminded me the movie Demolition Man which had armor made of tires like that. Looks like motorcycle tires to me. I found these photos of the armor from Demo Man ![](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/Zynjnn/ATC/720a3d61.jpg) ![](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/Zynjnn/ATC/757a6f82.jpg) ![](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/Zynjnn/ATC/49a2e254.jpg) by looking closely it looks like they used some other parts of a car to make the closers to this armor heh man if we only had unlimited funds to have a R&D dept hmmmm. Well we will make due without one then heh.

Ok here are the photos of the small pile of tires I have gotten from the two shops I went to today. ![](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/Zynjnn/ATC/ATC%20Misc/d95e5678.jpg) I called around to the Bike shops and to the Golf Cart shops I found two which would give me their used tires for free. Now to find one motorcycle shop that repairs ATV that I can get the tires from and Ill be a Fat Happy guy. I see knee armor elbow armor and even some other parts almost completed simply by cutting the tires apart and strapping them together. I found these bike tubes on craigslist being given away "Score" ![](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/Zynjnn/ATC/ATC%20Misc/c2c2a323.jpg) I am going to look to see if I can use these as backing or sides to the chest Got to love free listings in craigslist

and if you would like to stick with the Tire theme , normal mountain bike or racing bicycle tire for a change in color or accent piece an old garden hose would work very well for straps they can easily be sewn on using a basic saddle stitch with waxed linen thread and leather working tools or riveted on if you would like to save time or any sort of hard metal ring threaded through and bent together kinda like a heavy gauge key chain ring but to prevent tearing you would want to re-enforce it with a washer or something like that .
all would go very well on an sturdy canvas army jacket or vest or even pack harness.
I think it all would made for some pretty sweet duds

I got a mountain bike & racing bike tire from the bike shop so they are the first ones I will be working with. I did not know about colored tires, that would be interesting to see on armor, heh racing strips lol what a thought.
>>> Garden hose Damn that is brilliant! <<< I would have never thought of that. I was thinking of heater hose for a car.

we should have a field trip where we drive around and pick up trash and tires , good for the enviroment and good for our armor. Oh and by the way i picked up those suburban tires there are 3 and there massive will be good pieces for chest back and pauldrons very heavy stuff now i just need to find some really heavy duty snow tires i like the look of the deeper tread.

The golf cart tires I have, I had to use a jig saw to cut one apart, heh went thru two blades doing it too. I hope you got some shape blades to cut them tires apart with.
I was wishing I had a good band saw but that is not going to happen for a couple more months at the least. Then there is the metal ring at the bead line.
I simply cut them out whole because I did not have any pneumatic dye grinder blades to cut them with. I bought a couple and they do an ok job cutting thru the bead ring.
I think I am going to try to make some neck protection from on of them. we will see tho if it works out.

Check out this guy "Elliott Sidnam" armor Juggers of the Wastelands on Facebook I have requested to join their FB group for jugger. We will see if we can work with them for more information and or even join their small jugger group being they are from S.Cal. They have some experience building the right armor so hopefully it will work out for both our groups.

Im gonna try a few different cutting tools , was thinking using a hack saw and muscling it , its small but i have a really nice dremel with diamond blades , it might work for some of it . my first ideas thers always skill saws they have blades with no teeth there just rough seems like it would sand its way through . i dont know i really dont know alot about tools lol.

let us know what works best. I do not even want to try to use car tires because of the steel belts inside them.

have not tried it yet but my theory is ill cut the bulk of it with a hack saw and use a dremel kit to shape and smooth it should remedy jagged metal from sticking out of it .
